Dorian Mecir incorporated Dorian's Seafood Market in 2004 and opened doors in December, that same year. Dorian's career in the seafood business began in a management role at the Rosedale Fish Market which closed in 2001, and she brought over the staff of seasoned alumni from Rosedale's to continue the decades-old tradition of emphasizing quality catch and customer service. She has continued to build on this tradition by bringing the most delectable fresh fish, shellfish, and prepared foods to her customers. Dorian's Seafood Market is a favored destination with patrons in the neighborhood including some of NYC's top chefs.
Dorian’s Seafood Market is a fixture in the New York City small business community and most importantly is a flourishing business that is part of a dying breed of seafood markets. These markets only serve fish and employ only the most skilled fishmongers in the city. Not only does the staff at Dorian's cut, clean, and filet the fish as they come in, but the market also has a chef on staff who creates prepared dishes and platters for catering.
Dorian has made it her duty to give back to the community and has participated in many local and national charitable initiatives. Dorian's Seafood has worked in conjunction with the American Cancer Society, The City of Hope, The Children's Brain Tumor Foundation, and the Atlantic Salmon Federation. On a more local level Dorian's Seafood market has been a long standing sponsor of the Carl Schurz Park Conservancy.
Dorian loves to teach and share knowledge. She has a lot to offer women entrepreneurs and has been extremely supportive of the community and its causes.
